Bhangarh Fort - The story behind the most haunted place in India
When we are talking of the most haunted places in India or even in Asia, the Bhangarh fort is a name which makes its place somewhere on the top. The place has been awarded the title of being the most haunted place in India. Located at the border of Sariska Tiger Reserve falling in the Alwar district, Rajasthan, it was built in the 17th century by King Madho Singh. Besides being the most haunted place in India, it is also a very popular tourist place and is flooded with millions of tourists every year.
There has been plenty of research done on the paranormal activities in the fort. Many TV shows and documentaries came up challenging the fact that the place is haunted, but nobody till date could give a clear answer. No tourists are allowed to visit the place after its dark outside. Even the government officials warn the same thing.
There are two legends which suffice the reason behind the place being doomed. One talks of love, the other describes pride.
The first legend moves around Madho Singh, the king who built the fort. A hermit named Bala Nath used to live nearby the place where the fort is built. The king took permission from the hermit to build the palace. The hermit agreed only at one condition, the house of the hermit should not be shadowed by any of the walls of the fort in the entire course of the day. The fort was erected according to the condition laid y the hermit. Several years later, the successors of the king added to the fortifications vertically without keeping in mind the condition of the hermit. The new added construction shadowed the house of the hermit, making the fort doomed there after.
The second and the more popular legend talks of the Princess of Bhangarh, Princess Ratnavati. She was said to be the most beautiful woman of those times. A local black magician fell in love with the princess. He knew that the match was impossible and hence he decided to win her heart y the aid of his magic. The magician bewitched a cosmetic which was going to be used by the princess for the same. When the princess was about to use the cosmetic herself , she felt something suspicious and foiled the entire conspiracy of the magician. She threw the cosmetic in a large stone boulder and crushed it down. With this, even the magician was crushed till death. While taking his last breath, the magician cursed the place that no soul could live in peace there.
Which one of these two is correct can't be said, but the paranormal activities still continue to prevail at the fort of Bhangarh.
