Meet The New Fastest Train In India - Talgo Train
The Shatabdi Express running between New Delhi and Bhopal
was one of the most fastest trains India ever had. It could max out up till 110
km/h and clocked an average of 91km/h through the entire journey. Introduced in
1988, these trains were outdated and didn't matched the new requirements of the
passengers and wasn't a time saver any more.
The New Boy In Town- Talgo Train
The Spanish Train Talgo is going to be introduced in the brigade
of Indian trains. Talgo, in July 2015, approached the Indian Railways and
offered to build a high speed train. The main reason behind its agility is its
light weight. The lightweight of the train proves to be the best for the Indian
tracks as it favours natural tilting while turning. This means less breaking
while turning and hence maximizing -the speed.
According to the Financial Express, the train will consist
of nine coaches. Six coaches will reserved for the passengers, two being the
executive coaches whereas four being chair cars. The other three being a power
car, a pantry car for food storage and utensils to provide food to its
passengers and lastly a tail-end coach for the staff and other equipment
storage.
The train has gone through many trial runs. The first trial
run was held between Mathura and Palwal
in July which was clocked at a whooping 180km/h. It is said that train can gain
a top speed of 210kmph.
Yesterday, that is on 10th September 2016, the Talgo train
covered a distance of 1,388 km between Delhi and Mumbai at an average speed of
150kmph. The old record of being the fastest on this route was held by the
Rajdhani Express which used to average the journey at 85kmph. Talgo took an
astonishing 11 hours and 44 minutes to cover the distance giving a relaxation
of around 4 hours in the journey as compared to the fastest predecessor.
